About Festival 2014

Congratulations to Berta Rojas whose latest album Historia Del Tango has been nominated for a Latin Grammy Award in the "Best Tango Album" category. Ms. Rojas is scheduled to appear at Festival 2016 Friday, April 15 at 8 p.m.

The 24th annual Long Island Guitar Festival was held April 13 to 17, 2016 on the LIU Post campus of Long Island University in Brookville, NY USA.

Festival concerts in 2016 featured Andrew York, Berta Rojas, David Starobin, lutenist Ronn McFarlane, and Hilary Field.

Also featured were our National High School Classical Guitar Competition, Ensemble Showcases and the LIGF Guitar Orchestra as well as master classes and workshops.

The Long Island Guitar Festival now in its 24th season provides a unique opportunity for students and the general public to see world-class artists teaching and performing.

Celebrating 25 years, April 2 to 9, 2017
Scheduled performers to date include: David Leisner, Huy Thanh Nguyen, Raphaella Smits, Benjamin Verdery, Ana Vidovic, Saigon Guitar Quartet and Vida Quartet.

National High School Classical Guitar Competition
The Festival again hosted a high school classical guitar competition open to residents of all 50 states. Winners' names will be posted online soon. Find out more about our National High School Classical Guitar Competition on the Guitar Competition page.

Long Island Guitar Festival Guitar Orchestra
Returning to the Festival for its second year was the Long Island Guitar Festival Guitar Orchestra for high school students and others, conducted by Alan Hirsh. Find out more on the Guitar Orchestra page.

Master Classes for Guitarists and Performers
The 2016 Festival also featured master classes given by Ronn McFarlane, Andrew York, Berta Rojas and David Starobin. Watch for detais about how you can participate in a Festival 2017 Master Class as a performer.
